Homecoming is a special time that unifies alumni and students. There are many ways to get involved during this fun week of events, competitions, special exhibits, reunions and much more. 


TEDxUofSC is going virtual in 2020! South Carolina hosts its first virtual TEDxUofSC for the greater Columbia and university communities on Oct. 21. Broadcast from the Columbia campus, the popular event is free and open to anyone in the world.


MLK Celebration 

For more than 30 years, we have honored the life of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. The university celebrates his achievements and community focus with a wide-ranging week of activities, including a commemorative breakfast, a day of service, a food drive and presentation of the university’s Social Justice Awards.

Awards Day

Each spring the university recognizes accomplishments in service, scholarship, leadership and character within our student community. Awards Day honors recipients of university, college and departmental awards for the academic year.

Commencement exercises are held in May and December each year. President Robert L. Caslen Jr. presides over the official ceremonies, which include Carolina’s tradition of honoring each degree candidate by name.
