Campus Conversation: Katy Byrne
"Leadership has played a significant role in my college experience. When I first came into college, I would nervously sit in the back of meetings and never saw myself leading a even small group, let alone a student organization. When I was elected as my sorority new member educator, a role that entails leading 100-plus girls while event planning for over 400, to say I was shocked was an understatement. Because of this role, I found confidence in myself as a leader, and it quickly began to show throughout my involvement. I ran for Public Relations Student Society president this past spring and immediately felt ready to make this organization the very best it could be. I can be an effective leader because I remember my nervous freshman self, and know how to empower members of my organization to be confident in themselves and their abilities."
