Technology is imperative to the success of the University of South Carolina. It is interwoven in the teaching, learning and research missions of the university. We have done a good job of supporting the ever-evolving IT needs our university community in the past. However, we are all aware of current gaps in service offerings and the desire for newer, better and more efficient technology capabilities.
When all IT partners across the Columbia campus come together as UofSC IT, we will not only be able to address the immediate and long-term needs of our students, faculty and staff, but we will be able to offer IT services that were not available in the past. Our impact will be greater, and our reach will go further. The value IT provides to the University of South Carolina will continue to grow and evolve.
I am incredibly proud of the intense planning and earnest work members of the IT community have placed into IT Optimization. For nearly a year, they have been working to unite IT efforts through projects such as the combined UofSC IT Service Desk. They have identified areas of redundancies, developed plans to address them, and worked hard to develop a plan to bring IT Optimization to fruition. I am incredibly confident in this initiative and the potential this unlocks for the future of UofSC IT. We are stronger together.
